Horses for Mental Health is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to increase awareness, public engagement, funds, and access to programs incorporating horses for mental health and personal growth.

We partner with nonprofit organizations, philanthropists, celebrities, influencers, and companies to realize our collective vision of a world where all mental health needs are met – together.

We focus on the following objectives:

  1. Raise Global Awareness: We reach millions each year by bringing public attention to the power of horses in mental health through global campaigns, storytelling initiatives, influencer partnerships, and national media outreach.
  2. Support Local Programs: We direct dollars where they’re needed most, supporting the frontline programs doing this work every day. Through fundraising tools, grants, training resources, and visibility, we help them grow their reach, sustainability, and impact.
  3. Convene Leaders: We collaborate with the leading credentialing and training organizations in equine-assisted services to align messaging, promote quality standards, and strengthen the field through collective action.
  4. Advocate for Change: We build public trust and sector credibility by connecting with policymakers, health professionals, and funders, paving the way for wider acceptance and integration of these services in mental health care.
  5. Promote Horse Well-being: We advocate for the horses at the heart of this work, ensuring they are treated with dignity, respect, and care. From uplifting rescued and retired horses to supporting high standards of welfare across all programs, we work to protect their well-being and highlight their vital role as partners in healing.
